White Carnation Painting

Tony Almeida was born and raised in the Alfama District of Lisbon, Portugal. Alfama is the heart and soul of the City of Lisbon and he tries to reflect this heart and soul through his paintings of Mediterranean life and florals. Tony first became interested in art as a young boy, and for a brief time, was taught the technique of wood carving by his cousin Zeca, who was a Master wood sculptor for many of the catherdrals in Lisbon Portugal. Tony remembers his cousin's sculpted flowers coming alive in his hands and credits his talent for floral paintings to these early memories. Tony is basically self-taught,with some courses at Belas Artes, Lisboa, Portugal. His inspiration comes from his love of nature and the world around him. He works with both oil and acrylic, and some mixed media. 2013- Solo Exhibit "Ode to O'Keefe" at the Peabody Auditorium in Daytona Beach, Florida.
