The townscape has an inherent image that consists of natural and cultural elements. I would like to portray an expressionistic image of the townscape such as its inner or potential meanings and its external form. I try to express the inner meanings of the townscape's expressionistic image, and discern the contrast of it, rather than simply reproducing that image. Additionally the personal feelings created are expressed. I wanted to communicate the subjective inner consciousness, not an exact reproduction of the city. A subjective modification of the object could produce more meaning than that which it truly has. This work intends to be drawn as an expressional study, from the point of view that the art itself mirrors the researcher's inner side. Furthermore, it attempts to eradicate the fetters of description through the vehicle of color. I expressed the level of darkness with a mixture of colors, and an adjustment of chroma. I used complementary color whereby the colors themselves would be produced by the aspects of space and perception. This work is to understand the implicit meaning of the townscape, in the knowledge that it is a creature of the times, and to be aware of the efforts to establish a new order that is based on the meaning and development of landscape. The image of the expressionistic city, that I illustrated, is based upon the interaction within my mind, to allow me to take a subjective view of an objective landscape. Moreover, it has touched upon some diverse aspects of the townscape, that were elicited from an attempted subjective interpretation, on an altered image of an objective townscape.
