About The Artwork

Illustration was inspired by song "Monkey gone to heaven" by Pixies. Text is interpreted as an ecological manifest, it also brings to mind mystic interpretation of numbers. Lyrics mention God, devil and man involved in some ecological catastrophe, maybe apocalyptic days. In the text there is no place for other God's creatures than man so I decided to put an animal (hare) in the centre of the composition. The hare is looking straight at the viewer, he is calm but unhappy. Someone decided for him that the Armageddon is coming and he has to face it. The background of composition is orange. It is the colour of fire but it is significant that this is not red, colour of blood, even though the catastrophe is near. There is hope that it will bring something new and not the end. Be brave little hare!
