I participated in the first Dublin Biennial on Bloomsday in 2012 where also Yoko Ono and other more famous artists participated (Yoko One with here peace tree). I participated with two painting, where Global Warming Girl was one of the artworks. It stroke me when I arrived in Dublin and visited the statue of Anna Livia Plurabelle in the city centre (located in Croppies Memorial Park in Dublin), that there were some similarities, with my painting and this sculpture, maybe unconscious. This sculpture or monument is a personification of the River Liffey (Abhainn na Life in Irish), which runs through the city, and ALP is the name of a character in James Joyce's Finnegans Wake who also embodies the river. There is actually a whole chapter (Chapter 1.8) on ALP, which begin with sounds of water, birdsong, bird cries, the beating of the battler etc. In the novel we are introduced to ALP as a shy, limber slip of a thing, in Lapsummer skirt and damazon cheeks, her hair down to her feet, her little mary, washed in bog water, with amulets of rhunerhinerstones around her neck. In the painting which I have given the title global warning girl, we see a girl on a chair in a greenhouse, with water beside her. There are no rhunerhinerstones as around ALPs neck, and the girl is naked, in order to underscore the seriousness of global warning and how it might increase sea level, damage build envionment near the coast due to storm surges, flooding and many other challenges (from pollution with nitrate and phosphorous, plastic etc.). Like ALP in Finnegans Wake, the Global Warming Girl, meets her fate resolutely, as she goes toward her end, her “cold mad feary father”, the enveloping sea. Anna was James Joyce's last creation, his farewell to words, haunting, ineffable, a mythic Eve, haloed in the “dusk of the wonder”.

I am a Danish hydrologist currently working as a principal investigator and researcher at the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland at Øster Voldgade 10, 1350 in Copenhagen (working in close cooperation with Copenhagen University institute for geology and geography). I am known for my research in the field of hydrogeology, with a focus on groundwater resources and their management, as well as the impact of climate change on groundwater systems. I have published many papers in the international scientific journals, and I am also a member of several scientific organisations.
