In my story, my first wide-angle lens was integrated into my photographic equipment at the turn of the century, in 2001. This started my collection of Postales Circulares (Circular postcards) that fluctuate around the circular. The “fisheye” or wide-angle lens has been called a different view of the world. To be able to capture ancient places and change them through a different way of looking that makes them look like a place never seen before excepting by my lens and me. My call to analogue photography began at age 11 when my grandmother gave me a camera. My quest began with the aim of taking well-framed photos with good illumination. During my visits to different countries my photos were always like the postcards sold in tourist stands. On returning to Mexico on analysing my photos, I felt dissatisfied with producing such a classic style. How can one change the view of the same scene without changing the everyday process of development or printing? The technique shouted at me and I obtain my first wide-angle lens. The digital age then penetrated my work and the wide-angle lens became the nourishment to discover my own style. Now, as a result of technical advances, I do not just capture the origin of my “postales” (postcards) in a different style, but my work develops from the circle that through the passage of time also reveals the importance of it’s artistic meaning, that exceeds the symbolic ambit to explain the impact of the images that I express through my gaze.
