About The Artwork

A figure of a pregnant African woman represents the African continent. In her womb there are two fetuses- one is black and the other is white. They represent the antagonism between the two races resulting from the ruling of the white minority over the black race. Many African countries are still in war, and suffer from overpopulation, slavery of women and children, exploitation of resources by tycoons, poverty and sickness in monstrous measures. The figure is partially bare boned, which indicates a continuous process of decomposition, which leaves the African woman and the entire continent behind bars.
