About The Artwork

Commentary Discovered at the beginning of XVI century, it was moved by Giuliano della Rovere (Pope Julius II) in the courtyard of the Belvedere in the Vatican. In the '700 Winckelmann called him the highest expression of greek classicism. Now considered one of the finest works ever found. Currently located in the Vatican Museums. Palladium print The Palladium print procedure is in all similar to the one with platinum, but it allows to obtain softer and differently colored images. In this case the used process was the "direct blackening", that is a little more rare than the classic one. Paper: Arches Aquarelle Grain Satiné (Sheet dimensions: 13.4 W x 10.2 H in)

Lorenzo Scaramella is an artist who knows how to create substance out of the shadows. His photographs, printed using refined ancient techniques, give off an aura full of charm that reminds us of the history of this means of documentation and expression. He prints his photos with a variety of techniques now hidden because they were developed in the nineteenth century and later abandoned as not suitable for mass production. So he gives us the pleasure of seeing the expressive nuances that can be obtained for example with the press on salted paper, platinum, gum and gelatin-silver. With the eye of a master together with his multi-purpose technical hands, Lorenzo Scaramella creates unexpected and memorable aesthetic effects.
