Butterfly Net Photograph - Limited Edition of 25

"Butterfly Net" is a conceptual piece in that we see a woman freely dancing, uninhibited with the idea of freedom while the dress shares a story of other winged beauties printed on the dress and within a net. Questioning ideas of freedom and expression, Butterfly Net brings into dialog the intimate private feeling of freedom vs. the omniscient view of containment. There is an echo of much loved Robert Longo's dance works. Much of my work involves either portraiture with a focus on the face or on the body as it moves. This image ties into a larger body of work I have been working on for many years involving female empowerment, individual strength and freedom.
