About The Artwork
Calisto was one of the most beautiful women on the Earth. She had devoted herself to Artemis' band of virgin huntresses. Zeus desired her, so he turned himself into Artemis and made love to Calisto. When Calisto became pregnant, the actual Artemis, turned her into a bear and the virgins hunted Calisto dead. Zeus was very sorry that he put Calisto in the stars as Ursa Major and her unborn son as Ursa Minor Printed with archival inks and paper
