The last two weeks of my 100 days in the Mexican city of Oaxaca were spent exploring northwest of the city on foot, especially the noisy and dusty International Highway, a commercial and industrial thoroughfare ignored by the tourists that throng the colonial city center. The urban Mexican landscape demands color, and I obliged. Fixed inkjet print on archival white cotton-rag paper. My images are beholden to the modernist and abstract photographers who conjured startling beauty from mundane sites and materials. Beauty without sentimentality is what I'm after.
