Heartless Photograph

This picture is my way to come to terms with my beloved friend not being able to reciprocate my feelings. When I finally realized this, I felt like my heart literally being ripped out and taken away by him - with myself being left behind in the end. To transport the enormous power of this feeling I dared to choose a direct visualisation with a bloody heart and a blood trail leading to him. The dropped roses to my left were meant as a sign of love. It's a self-portrait consisting of two exposures (the shards in the sky as the second one) and it's taken on 35 mm film without digital manipulation.
