About The Artwork

Self portraits Mix media, Photography Paper Mask, Charcoal, Acrylic, Pencil, Ink, Oil pastel Part of the series " sprezzatura" “Sprezzatura” is an Italian word originating from Baldassare Castiglione’s The Book of the Courtier, where it is defined by the author as “a certain nonchalance, so as to conceal all art and make whatever one does or says appear to be without effort and almost without any thought about it”. It has also been described “as a form of defensive irony: the ability to disguise what one really desires, feels, thinks, and means or intends behind a mask of apparent reticence and nonchalance”.

STATEMENT My interest resides within the exploration of the concept of identity: who we are, how we define our self, how we think we look and how we feel. I am intrigued by the multifaceted personalities that we apply in different situations as if we were different people, and how these are revealed like invisible masks wore with stealth delicacy. I explore these themes through masks, portraits, drawings, photograph, dance and animations using varied medias and techniques. I tend to create work in numbered series each artwork is an essential part of a bigger unity. And I work both in a studio and on location site. __________________________ BIOGRAPHY I am an Artist with a MA in Animation from the NFTS and a BA in Fine Art from BRERA Milano.
