Description: This piece interestingly explores the aesthetical and functional roles of the objects being used. Im a young, passionate and driven individual striving to serve a purpose within my artwork by highlighting issues surrounding the social, political and economic factors in our global community. War is a subject that has been extensively explored through the medium of art in the past. The purpose and function of War Art has ranged from documenting and recording with more historical routes; to memorialising and glorifying those who have been lost to its cause. However, its contemporary practice has grown with the development of our society and art culture. With the rise of free-thinking and public awareness of global issues, it has led to the acceptability and tolerance of previously objectionable material. This in turn has led to an increase in the number of artists and individuals making statements that protest issues surrounding war, poverty and capitalism. Therefore my work finds itself emerging in a brand new movement as Anti-War Art.
