Has the negative - in times of digital photography, when it is no longer duplication serves - an artistic relevance of its own? Also to this question is the new series "Maschera", which is like the series "After This Darkness There Is Another", in turn, is created during journeys in mainly southern europe. The negative is an imprint of reality. A print, but also a mask. My new works are created in the darkroom of the computer, but let them discover the mysterious alchemical charm of old photographs. The history of the avantgarde-photography, the photo experiments of the early 20th century are an influence, the idea of subjective photography, but above all it is also about the enigma and clarification of found situations. The new pictures are in a way "masks" of the original, not prints, but reinterpretations or shadows. These masks disguise in equal measure, how they're going to expose something. They tell of a double identity of images, of a second janus image inherent in every representation.
