A photographic study of the 87 buildings on the seafront overlooking the famous Malecon Avenue in Havana, Cuba. Many of the architecturally interesting early 20th century buildings are badly dilapidated because of their age and exposed position to the ocean. The photographs were taken as the restoration work to rescue some of the historical architecture is starting and new 21st century designs are being constructed on the avenue. The government of Centro Habana and the Office of the Historian of the City have since decided that 28 of the 87 buildings shown in this image are beyond repair and will be demolished. In this triptych image, the buildings on this section of the Malecon from Paseo de Marti del Prado to Calle Belascoain are shown as three panoramas. The single panorama of the whole image can not be shown on this site for technical and practical reasons but can be seen on the front and rear covers of the book 'Atados al Mar' in the 'Atados al Mar' link on the eBooks page of my personal website. This triptych version of the image is also offered in a smaller print size limited edition. Total number of edition 8. 48” x 12” / 122cm x 30.5cm (w x h). Please ask for currently available edition number and print price. Please ask if you are interested in details about a print of the single panorama of the whole image.

I was born on a Tuesday at 10.40am in San Juan de Dios Hospital in Manila, the capital of The Philippines. As the old nursery rhyme goes, 'Tuesday's child is full of grace' - others can be the judge of that, but I do know that my love for travel began here. In 1977, I started freelancing as a photographer for publications in the UK and internationally and have become known for my environmental portraiture, interiors, architectural, travel and documentary photography. My work has been published in a number of magazines including: Conde Nast Traveler (US), Conde Nast Traveller (UK), Departures, Discover, Forbes, Fortune, GQ, Guardian Weekend, Harpers & Queen, House and Garden, Image, The Independent, The Independent on Sunday Review, Newsweek, Oxygen, Saga, The Observer, The Sunday Times, The Telegraph, Vanity Fair, Vogue, W, The Weekend Financial Times, The World of Interiors. For my gallery photography, I make limited edition single, diptych, triptych and multiple images, in colour and black and white.
