About The Artwork

This photograph shows an electrical storm over Fiji, at night. I took this photograph back in 2008. In my other career as a marine biologist I was working at sea at the time. It was around 10pm, and very dark, with heavy storm clouds overhead. From a moving ship it was not possible to take a long exposure shot. trying to predict exactly where the next flash would occur, peering intently through the viewfinder whilst standing out on deck, I eventually got lucky. Setting the correct exposure for lighting is always a question of mixing theoretical knowledge with experience, and then taken test shots until you hit the right combination. In my career I've been in a few electrical storms at sea; they are always incredible to watch, but hard to capture on camera. This time I came pretty close.

Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

I've been a wildlife and landscape photographer for more than 30 years, starting out as an underwater photographer. I'm also a professional marine biologist and diver, spending much of my life at sea. At the moment I split my time between Scotland, England, S.E. Asia and at sea. I'm probably happiest when underwater.
