In street photography, as always, it is the randomness, the momentousness that decides, cementing Henri Cartier-Bresson's theory of the decisive moment, when the photographer's eye is able to perceive a composition in space and to freeze that unrepeatable moment he intuitively presses the shutter. My gaze discerned the play of light and dark, the relationship between sharp and blurred and the interpenetration of images, their equivalence, which brings out the essence of the image, when "under one exposed image there is another, [...] and under it again another, [...] down to the faithful image of reality, the absolute, the mysterious, which no one will ever see, or perhaps even deeper: to the decomposition of all image, all reality". (Robert Eberwein). As in many of my works, I dialogue here with the modernist aesthetic of cinema noire and the master of 20th century street photography, Saul Leiter.
