"Empty room with bench" comes from the series Abandoned Abandoned is a series of photos I’ve made on Crete, Greece. It tells the story of abandoned mountain villages on Crete, Greece. Once were this prosperous farming villages, where the villagers lived from the proceeds of the land. Probably by crises, the rise of tourism on the island or the rise of modern time, the villagers left their homes and left behind their few personal possessions as if they would be back any time. This never happened and while the many seasons changed, the weather affected the houses and personal belongings of the moved away residents and turned villages into ruins. All photographs from this series are shot with natural light and composed with the aim to emphasize the essence of the subjects. This print comes with a Certificate of Authenticity and is prepared with a generous white border to make it easy to mount. Shot with natural light Materials used: Hahnemühle Fine Art Premium K3 Epson, Hahnemühle Photo Rag

Alice van der Sluis is an in the Netherlands based photographer. Many years ago she followed a two years training at the University for applied photography in the Netherlands. Here she learned basically the technical part of photography. Years later this would prove to be the basis for her as an visual artist. Now she is an artist who capture ideas by using photography and Photoshop, but this is a creative process that first of all take place in the mind. The challenge is always to create something new and dissolve technical and practical problems. If I don’t know how to do it, she said, in a technical way then I figure it out until I know how to do it. This always challenge her to be creative and to learn new way’s of expressing, an infinite process than never stops. For all of her work she use her own photo’s which she combine by using Photoshop until it is a whole. This is a complex process in which she often use more than 50 different pictures and layers to get the desired result. The subjects that Alice currently use for her work are coming from her immediate environment. Alice has a predilection for surrealism which she prefer to call surrealistic realism. After all that what is in the mind is already an reality. In September 2016 Alice has her first international exposition at the International ArtExpo2016 in Milan and in the next future she will exhibit in Lisbon, Portugal.
