Archival inkjet print on museum quality paper (Canson Baryta Photographique, 310 grms.) Paper size: 24 H x 35 W x .2 inches. Image size: 21.5 H x 32.25 x .2 inches. Edition of 20, signed and numbered in the back by the artist. I had been a photographer for over 30 years and I had never taken pictures of flowers, mostly because I had been a black and white photographer, and black and white pictures of flowers seemed like an insult to the flowers. In the summer of 2004 I decided I had to move on to color photography. I bought the latest digital camera and an Epson wide printer. On my first outing with the new camera I went down to my wife’s vegetable garden, and noticed the flowers she had planted there. I have a long history of photographing cats and dogs from a low vantage point, and always with flash, so I tried that approach with the flowers. I liked the results so much that for the next three years I photographed gardens and flowers all over the United States. This picture was done on a story of bridal flower arrangements for Brides magazine.
