About The Artwork

A small boy swelters on a Paris Street alongside quintessential French women who look chic no matter what. The boy is still free enough to do what everyone wants to do, but does not feel free to do. They are in front of the Pantheon, meaning "every god." The little boy strikes me as a god-like figure of virility, youth, independence, his soul resoundingly free. France's greatest minds lie buried in the Pantheon--Victor Hugo, Emile Zola, Voltaire, and so many others. I feel their laughter and approval of this boy who is just being French, and forever being himself.
