About The Artwork
This artwork is part of 197th Annual Exhibition (May-June 2023), Royal Scottish Academy of Art and Architecture. The original photograph was taken in Hanoi, Vietnam. It is part of my award-winning series The Lotus Lake. This series won Honorable Mentions at the International Photography Awards 2013 and was published in many art magazines and national news, including Vogue Italia, Widewalls, Vietnam News, El Economista etc. The series was exhibited in Paris, Madrid, Ducal Palace of Medinaceli (Spain), and especially at Saatchi Gallery in London, and auctioned by Christie's Hong Kong. The lotus flower is the symbol of Buddhism. It symbolizes the beauty in darkness and purity/strength of heart, because although the lotus grows in the muddy water, the flower grows to be beautiful and clean. This art photograph was created based on photography and digital techniques using painting textures, inspired by the lacquer art of Vietnam. This specific photograph has been exhibited at Ducal Palace of Medinaceli (Spain) and in Milan and Naples (Italy). The photo is printed with a small white border each side, which makes it easy for putting in frame. Comes with signed & numbered Certificate of Authenticity, to be affixed to the back when framed. She also worked as Exhibition Manager and Curator for several exhibitions at IE University during this period. In 2023, Viet Ha became an art writer for IE Insight, the knowledge hub of IE and she co-authored the book "Ideas to shape the future" with her analytical article "The future of creating, collecting and curating visual arts". Prior to embarking on her artistic journey full-time, Tran enjoyed a successful career in education, banking, market intelligence, business development, and government relations spanning Japan, Singapore, Vietnam, and Spain. Her diverse professional background enriches her artistic perspective, infusing her work with depth, nuance, and cultural resonance. Viet Ha was nominated in the top 200 Influential Vietnam Global Leaders 2019 (appointed by the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Vietnam Embassy in Spain).
