About The Artwork

“My Aging Beauty” – Limited Edition of 125, No. 10 of 125 Fine Art Photography Peony: Existing planting at home Artist #19b_IMG2239, taken June 30th, 2019 Size: Image area 16”w x 24”h. Numbered prints also available in 12x18, 20x30 NOTE: watermark on image shown is NOT in original art and will not be on the print Ships rolled in a tube Forever a student of life and nature, D Lynne’s photos view like paintings, with an emotional fabric focusing our eyes to see the story. Brimming with heart, yet technically astute. Portraits of the spirit of the land. ABOUT THIS IMAGE: As we age, we are forced to see the beauty in wrinkles and age spots that are reflected back to us; our face to the world that we cannot hide. Similarly, I have struggled with portraying the beauty in aging flowers. I wish to honor their unending drive, and it took practice to get the camera to portray with grace and not harshness. I see their journey. First, they come forth as bursting young buds, a miracle of nature. Then I watch as they face storms, hot sun, and the windy turmoil that is their short life. I see them living on, simply happy to be doing what they have come here to do: be the magic dancing in the world. Represent all of nature in showing strength that you didn’t know you had. Glowing with beauty and integrity, and joy, even though you are a little beat up. In this peony, hanging low after a storm, showing her graceful face, is my aging beauty. I sat with her in the evening, wanting to capture her freedom from concern, just enjoying her last days of being beauty. Because of her, I recognized the beauty in myself and I hope you can see it too. NOTES FROM THE ARTIST: My photographs are all “straight from the camera”. They are authentic; they are real. My decisions of composition, exposure, and motion are all made at the moment that the shutter is pressed using ONLY natural daylight and surrounding natural plants for background colors and composition. No filters have been used, no retouching or recropping has been involved; no color enhancement of any kind. To do so would defeat what I work so hard to do: truthfully portray to you the beauty and love that exist all around us. You would not believe me if I did it any other way. With a limited edition of 125, this work is printed on Canson Infinity Baryta Photographique 310 gsm Satin paper, a museum grade photo paper showing excellent density and great image sharpness. Each print includes a certificate of authenticity and is signed and numbered by the artist. I am driven by an unending passion to see the moment in which spirit shines through the camera; to be the lucky one to witness that moment and be skilled enough to bring it to light for all of us. Gifts of the soul. As in our gardens, so in our hearts and minds. a.k.a. Debra Willett

Long a photographer, D Lynne’s portraits of flowers speak of the beauty found in the world, in nature, and in each of us. At every stage from bud to full bloom, and back again to seed, she honors spirit in her portraits. Her intrigue of how plants seek their destiny to show off their magnificent flowers and seeds is evident in every portrait. Working with only natural sunlight and shadow to frame the moment, her camera becomes a tool to see beyond the casual eye, an extension of her heart and mind all at once. Snippets of life’s joys and struggles; insights into the soul. Forever a student of life and nature, her photos view like paintings, with an emotional fabric focusing our eyes to see the story. Brimming with heart, yet technically astute. Portraits of the spirit of the land. Starting out with a brownie camera as a child, and supplemented by a fine arts degree, D Lynne continues to push the limits of what can be seen through the lens of a camera. She speaks of what is real, of the beauty that surrounds us, of how important it is for us to be engaged in nature. Amazed herself by the gifts of the photos she takes, she devotes many hours to fine-tuning her skill. Resistant to asking for training or tips, she likes to think of herself as a self-taught photographer. Her skill in capturing intimate moments, face to face with flowers, comes from investing time each day practicing with hands and eyes at the ground level of spirit. Note from the artist: My photographs are all “straight from the camera”. They are authentic; they are real. Decisions of composition, exposure, and motion are made at the moment the shutter is pressed. After that, nothing is manipulated, enhanced, photoshopped or cropped. To do so would defeat what I work so hard to do: truthfully portray to you the beauty and love that exist all around us. You would not believe me if I did it any other way. Gifts of the soul. As in our gardens, so in our hearts and minds.
