Patriots Photograph

These three images of proud US soldiers are a triptych. I was not only interested in the idea of what it might mean to be a patriot, but was also interested in the more abstract nature of figures in space. The space around each body is as much a part of the portrait as the figure itself. The men are in uniform and there is a uniformity about them. There is an anonymity about the subjects, where they become more symbolic of everyman more than one individual. The pieces were made using the di-bond technique where the image is sealed between a hardwearing resin and aluminium. This gives the final piece a clean, reflective and modern feel. The three parts of this artwork are ready to hang, and should be hung side by side. The work is unique as it is not an edition. There is only one in existence at this size. Dimension shown are for the three pieces together, but does not take into account a small space between each piece when hanging. Each individual panel is 29 x 37 inches wide. Thickness for di-bond is about quarter of an inch, but add on about half an inch for the hanging mechanism, invisible behind the work once hung.
