From the series, Self-Portraits with Poofy Dress. This print is one of an edition of 5 hand-signed and numbered prints. It is printed using archival pigment ink on Hahnemuhle PhotoRag paper. Each print in the edition is printed to order; please allow one week for printing before it leaves my studio. Work is shipped rolled in a heavyweight mailing tube and is protected by archival vellum sheeting. Image area is 16Hx 16W; print size is 17H x 17W; print has a 1/2" white border around all sides. Self-Portrait with Poofy Dress V is part of an ongoing series of images I am taking in this costume. For years and years, I have been envious of photographers who have access to people who would dress up in unusual clothes and allow themselves to be photographed. While cleaning out my mother’s home after her passing, I found a crisp, poofy slip - something that looked like it was left over from the 1950’s. I put it on and I just KNEW that that was it! I was going to photograph myself in it! I crushed it into a quart sized Ziploc bag, fit it into my already full suitcase, and took it back home to HI with me. One day, when my husband was at work and my son was out boogie boarding, I put it on and literally danced around in the skirt for about three minutes. It was sort of fun, so I’m definitely pulling out the skirt and working with it some more!
