Well, like the old Three Dog Night song goes, I'd never been to Spain. And then my wife and I ventured there, traveling to Barcelona and Madrid back in 2007. I learned family history; that my paternal ancestors had fled Spain during the Spanish Inquisition. Which, I guessed later, was one reason Spain felt somehow strangely familiar. The hotel we stayed at in Madrid wasn't all that far from Plaza Mayor and it had a great rooftop deck -- which provided many opportunities to make photos of the skyline. We wandered up there approaching sunset one evening and I made a bunch of shots with sun glinting off the various steeples and rooftops. It was hot. You can almost feel the haze in the distance. It also was beautiful in all its historic simplicity. The prints as a limited edition on Hahnemuhle William Turner, measuring 16 x 12 -- with borders, that's 17.6 x 13.6 . . .
