Sunayu pier is a pretty well known locations for minimalist photographers who love Japan, as it’s right next to the famous Kenna’s tree, the amazing tree that Michael Kenna photographed for many years before it got cut, sadly. I visited here twice, expecting to be immersed in nature, but finding myself in the middle of people, swans and vehicles, as this boat pier is attached to the only restaurant in the area. Not a very romantic location I have to say, but very photogenic. Some people thinks that long exposure shots of boat piers are a little bit of a cliche, but I don’t mind if the conditions are right. I’d love to come back again when everything is completely covered in snow. The original is printed on Hahnemühle Photo Rag Satin 310 gsm 100% Cotton white satin-finish paper and manually signed.
