About The Artwork

Synaesthesia is a perceptual phenomenon in which stimulation of one sensory or cognitive pathway leads to involuntary experiences in a second sensory or cognitive pathway. Thus one may see very specific colors when listening to certain musical chords, or when seeing numbers on a paper. This abstract image reminds me of musical scales being perceived in color and space. This is why this had to be the title of this work. Actually it is a very colorful school building in Amsterdam. Not being able to enter the school property I endlessly looked for the right angle to frame the multitude of colors on the facade. It was most intriguing to see that one wing of the school was being reflected in the glossy panels of another wing, so the colors and lines were intersecting and mixing with one another without any Photoshop manipulation. This is a limited edition pigment print on Ilford Pearl photographic paper. It is shipped in a tube and needs to be framed by the client. It is handsigned and comes with a certificate of authenticity. Please note: the Image size is 45 x 45 cm / paper size is 59,4 x 61 cm (23.4 x 24 inches). It is also available in two other sizes: Large: 120 x 120 cm / 47 x 47 inches (print behind plexiglass) Medium: 70 x 70 cm / 27 x 27 inches (print behind plexiglass)
