http://www.alissacohensolal.net/ Alissa Cohen Solal was born in Paris in 1972. She studied cinema and obtained a BA in Film Studies at the University of Paris Diderot. She wrote and directed a few documentaries and short films and started to actively practicing photography, using images to create photographic storyboards based on her film narratives. Since 2000, her work exploits manipulating images appearance to obtain new visual artifacts that sometimes echo with the deterioration of the subject represented in the images. She arrived in London in 2006, where she worked and completed a Master in Photography and Contemporary Art. Her first group show in the UK was in 2012, Undo the tangible, on her snapshots made in Rio during a New Year's Eve that were reworked to explore the undisciplined states of nature and humans. New in Town is a serie made by night in New York in 2012. It has been manipulated to procure a new imagery that carries a sense of poetry and dreamlike feeling, where an ice blue sky seems to be imprisoned inside the surrounding buildings. Her work is to be seen on screen or in small/medium format prints. She lived in Barcelona, Nagoya, Berkeley and New York.
