e/a (one of 4 prints, diffrents ink) black and silver Charbonnel ink on 300g Hanhemuhle aqufort paper self-portrait, created from 9 separat silver prints, from small squares I'm trying to define human condition, human nature. To find answer to questions: who we are? are we thinkers? The essence of the workin on „personality borders /border” is the kind of work, being forced by the chosen technique. Hundreds of hours spent on monotonuous drawing of thousands of squares, enable to fall into a kind of meditation or trance. To achieve a certain level of isolation from the excess of external stimuli, quietening and focusing on oneself. This is the time given on analysing of the human personality, on formulating of questions and searching the answers to them. What makes us being able to speak about the given person, apart from his/her psysical aspect and to concentrate on his/her psyche? What constructs the personality? The features of the character, preferences, repeated behaviour, habits, emotions felt, experiences, memoirs? What decides about the integrity of the given personality and how little is needed to its disintegration? What factors allow us to speak about personality disorder or mental disease, and when these are still socially acceptable specific character traits? Isn’t the process of treating or therapy of such disorders a personality change? How to be sure that changing some of character traits won’t lead to complete personality disintegration? That the positive disintegration will take place, enabling forming a new, more conscious, more mature personality? Can we still speak about the same human being after such changes? Maybe be the only same in him/her is his body envelope, in which there is a different person?
