About The Artwork

The lamb is a symbol of Easter because Jesus is referred to in the Bible as the “Lamb of God.” The lamb was a sacrifice made during the Jewish Passover, and it became a symbol for Jesus’ sacrifice. Millions of animals are sacrificed in the name of religion every year, from Hinduism to Christianity. Animal sacrifice is generally distinguished from the religiously-prescribed methods of ritual slaughter of animals for normal consumption as food. However, the Farm Animal Welfare Council (FAWC), which advises British government on how to avoid cruelty to livestock, says the way Jewish Kosher and Muslim Halal meat is produced causes severe suffering to animals. I have always found these practices hypocritical for those religions that claim to promote peace.
