Lovers II Print - Limited Edition of 100

In fluid motions floating across the canvas, the characters in Christopher Mudgett's oil painting The Lovers II, 2016 are full of tenderness and grace. Rendered in monumental, sweeping forms, the figures are frozen in motion against a creamy gray background. As the two bodies meld into each other, the boarders of the figures glow with a subtle line, adding extra dimensionality and an element of excitement to the artwork. The figure on the left throws his hands around his lover's back and clutches her arm, tossing her head back in time with poetry that we cannot hear. The figure on the right, is just as engrossed in the passion with one hand on her lovers chest and the other caressing the hair on his neck. The figures contain soft lines and dots, which help to create a sense of depth to the scene. Through the use of a very simple composition, Mudgett creates a piece that is full of love and emotion. We can imagine that this kiss extends beyond the bounds of the frame and we create for ourselves the larger context that our lovers exist within. These beautiful limited edition prints were meticulously created after the original works (Oil Paintings, Charcoal Drawings, Linoleum Cuts etc.) by master printers in Los Angeles, who worked closely with Mudgett to bring you this remarkable collection. They are printed in an edition of 100 on museum-quality cotton Moab paper. To ensure authenticity, each print is signed and numbered in pencil by the artist on the front and stamped with the atelier seal on the reverse. Paper size is 24 x 24 in, 61 x 61 cm.
