About The Artwork

Limited edition giclee paper print from an original oil painting. Dimensions are image size, not inclusive of 2.5 inch white border. Proofed, signed and numbered by the artist, with certificate of authenticity. Many cultures believe that souls migrate from one human form to another, and some that we also experience life as different species (as symbolized by the deer and the antlers on the figure). I happen to believe this isn’t the only human lifetime I’ve incarnated. But for the most part it’s irrelevant to how I live my daily life. Yet I do find it fascinating how many of us have sometimes unexplainable attachments to historical people and places. In a Native American Studies college course, I recall weeping openly in class when learning of genocides that happened to particular tribes. It was as if I was reading of my own family’s death and I longed to be with them. Also, I become emotional when I hear Gaelic or Hawaiian languages spoken or sung. This painting is an homage to the mysteries these experiences conjure within me.

About the Artist Award-winning oil painter Paul Bond was born in 1964 in Guadalajara, Mexico, and currently lives and works in Southern California and Costa Rica. Paul Bond's art lives in the spaces between dreaming and reality. Drawing from the Latin American genre of Magic Realism, his paintings merge symbolic, surreal and fantastic elements with realistic atmospheres to unveil a world where everything is possible. At times, they simply express a whimsical aspect of life. Yet most works also carry deeper metaphysical and philosophical messages illuminating the world of our dreams and subconscious thoughts, fears and hopes. Bond’s work has won numerous awards and been featured in galleries, museums and cultural centers, including The Gateway Museum and The San Diego Art Institute. His paintings are now in private collections throughout the US, and worldwide. Corporate collections include Fox, Warner Bros and NBC Studios, Royal Caribbean International, Marriott Hotels, Scripps and Stanford Hospitals; and his works are featured in numerous contemporary art publications.
