About The Artwork
The significance of this sculpture was to condition my eye and hand technique in round forms whilst creating two volutes in a twist. With inspiration drawn from Leonardo da Vinci’s ‘Vitruvan man’ denoting how man could be the center of the universe. My thoughts were reminiscent of “Apropos” - a top show Arabian stallion from my childhood- that once was the centre of (my) - an 11 yr old’s universe. The base ( also mara creme limestone) is elongated to allow the audience to roll the stone, - stopped and held in a new position by a smooth pebble collected from the east shore of Newfoundland.
