Bijoux Sculpture

The work is intended to be a sparkling accent for those decorating with grays, creams, whites, and the new greige. Even though I used sober neutrals the piece gleams and shines with a flamboyant glamour. I achieved this by using materials with a diverse array of lusters and optical effects like reflective beads, iridescent crystal, shiny and tarnished metallics, etc. In dim lighting or candlelight, the reflective elements will wink at you from across the room as you move through your space. In full sunlight the vase will sparkle like a bejeweled ghost. The glass mosaic technique using opaque, translucent, and transparent beads over a clear glass vessel allows for an added dimension of luminosity that enhances the quality and play of light and color.
