Artist Recognition

This piece is Radio Raheem‘s resurrected boom box from the Spike Lee film Do The Right Thing. The front facing of the piece reflects the fire of Sal’s Pizzeria. It also has a blank cassette tape in one of the cassette bays, signifying our ability to record a more desirable outcome than what the film presents. Bum-rush the Show has a sound chip that detects ambient sound and reflects that in the neon speakers, giving the impression that the piece is actually playing whatever music happens to be playing. It is a big sculpture - 6 feet wide by about 4 feet high and stick out about a foot. It only weighs 25 pounds though!
