A homage to Genet/Fassbinder's Querelle and to the gay culture history of cruising. Marble cast and sculpted. A note for those who are not familiar with the process of casting. One of the modern materials used in sculpting is the marble powder. Grinded marble, often from Carrara (for its whiteness) is minutely mixed with a glue. One can pour this mixture into a mold made after the original sculpture prototype. When produced in a factory in multiple copies, a classical statue can be replicated at a certain scale. They're often sold in a museum gift shop. My statues are different because they reproduce my original sculptures. I only make 3, of which I keep one for myself. Once they're out of the mold, I continue carving them with various tools. Thus, even the 3 copies will never be the same. The finishing is intentionally different from what one can see in a museum shop. It is my choice and my style, rough, shaken in surface, imperfect.
