I broke a bandsaw blade and while I was changing it I thought it reminded me of water. I found an engine manifold and thought it looked like a part of a ship! That was the beginning of the battleship! I read that the battleship was produced for decades after it was deemed obsolete by the development of air power and that inspired me to make a ship out of obsolete objects!

www.petermcfarlane.com Peter McFarlane is an award winning artist, based on Salt Spring Island, whose work is in public and private collections nationally and internationally. Over his career he has worked in a wide variety of mediums particularly in the re-purposing of used objects. What connects all of his work is the re-contextualizing of obsolete everyday objects to create personal philosophies which he hopes will resonate with the viewer on a visceral and/or intellectual level and open up the possibility of a new conceptual experience. He believes waste is just a lack of imagination. He relies on long hours, landfill, personal experience, history, metal recycling and serendipity to make his art. Nationality is Canadian
