Jennifer Kidd Sculpture

I am a performance artist, animator and sculptor. Combining the three I am working towards bridging the gap between animation and performance through performative pieces using stop motion animation. This year my work has progressed from plasticine animation to 25fps feature quality silicone puppet performance animation and I have worked alongside some great animators and producers from 'The Corpse Bride' to further develop my work. My main drive is human interaction, the way we behave and how we treat one another and the constant little decisions we made that ultimately define us. My main areas of interest are the insignificant and the seemingly unimportant things that we do, our daily habits, quirks and idiosyncrasies which differentiate us from on a another and of how we constantly crash into each other unceremoniously despite all efforts to the contrary. Stop motion animation is a great medium for this as it dissipates any element of shock otherwise experienced in performance and is more readily accepted by a wider audience.
