About The Artwork

"The Lotus flower is regarded in many different cultures, especially in eastern religions, as a symbol of purity, enlightenment, self-regeneration and rebirth. Its characteristics are a perfect analogy for the human condition: even when its roots are in the dirtiest waters, the Lotus produces the most beautiful flower." _Binghamton University The stainless steel is finished to have a multi-faceted reflective surface, and light is drawn to reflect off every petal. Either ceiling, wall, or ground mounted, this sculpture illuminates and fills the environment with the color of the light cast upon them. Mounting brackets under the lily pad allow this lotus to be installed easily on a concrete pad; or suspended on a wall or from a ceiling. Mounting hardware, and metal wax are shipped with your purchase. For exterior installation please plan annual maintenance. Sculpture must be waxed every 12 months, 6 month preferable. Ceramic kilning or your favorite automotive wax may be substituted.

"My purpose in life is to help others see, feel, & heal through art". Welded Sculpture is Woodford’s passion. Her work is a dialog with organic flow, movement and scale. Woodford grew up on the East Coast in Southern Maryland, but has called the Midwest home for many years. She travels between South Carolina, Iowa, Nebraska, Dallas, and Arizona where she creates, has representation, or teaches. Traveling enables me to teach, be of service to others and broaden my views." The figurative series she creates depicts her thinking on current as well as historical matters and her perceptions from a female viewpoint. The work is inherently autobiographical while also leaving space for the viewer's interpretative dialog. Woodford's goal is to create healing sculptures that embody a sense of hope. "We are all connected. We are all the same, and could see each other as mirrors but for the smoke in-between.”
