Reading a book on mathematics, there was a chapter about Fibonacci sequences as found in nature including some seashells. The picture of a Nautilus intrigued me and when I found a stone that had beautiful green strata running through it the Nautilus just emerged.

Opening a stone to see inside, exposing a surface that's been hidden since the beginning of time, revealing a hidden view of the universe, are the things that excite me. I share my excitement by carving the stone into an asbstract shape that balances delicately at an impossible angle to force the viewer to reexamine their assumptions about the physical world.
