About The Artwork

Zinc Plated Steel, Vessel Series, This anthropomorphic vessel, while a play on the Egyptian canopic jars (they were not used for the heart even though we might consider the heart to be an important organ) is inspired by anthropological digs where precious items are unearthed. I imagine that at some point most of these typically clay vessels were damaged and this may very well be how one of these unearthed vessels might appear. The piece plays on both figurative and animal-like qualities found in conapic jars and alludes to our human condition of a broken heart/ broken vessel, and sense of finding the beauty in loss.
