About The Artwork

This standing sculptural composition is a visual representation of 'Unmei no akai ito' [The Red String of Fate/The Red Thread of Destiny]. According to East Asian belief, everyone is connected to another person by an invisible red string that is tied to the ankle or finger of his or her hand. The two people connected by the red string are said to be the destined mate and lover. This is similar to the Western concept of soul-mates or a twin flame.
