Titled "Ellsworth's Woodpile" as the tarp reminded me of an Ellsworth Kelly (the minimalist 20th century painter) abstract shape. This was painted in 2010 with professional grade acrylic paint on a 1.5" hollow core wood panel, 30" high by 40" wide. It is professionally framed, wired, and ready to hang. Please look at the images carefully. This is painted very loosely with quick brushstrokes in a painterly manner with texture showing through, it isn't photo-realistic. The frame has some slight scuff marks but they don't interfere when viewing the whole painting. About the artist: Stephen Remick was born and raised in Vermont. He resides in a coastal, New England town with his wife, Anne Carrozza Remick, who is also an artist on Saatchiart.com. Steve's paintings are in private collections all over the U.S. and abroad.

I'm painting my back yard and the world beyond. Familiar, everyday sights that may only get a peripheral, passing glimpse. In-the-moment scenes… a yard sale, a backyard tree house, or a new house foundation under construction and filled with potential. Signs of prior lives… a centuries old, crumbling foundation who's long gone owner held that same potential as today’s builder, a cemetery reclaimed by the woods. Trying to guide the viewer to think in a deeper way, to realize our connection to each other, our environment, our past, and our future. Also re-connecting with an abstract, color-field series from the early 2000's, with inspiration drawn from land and sky and the abstract expressionist movement. In between all that, plein air painting when I can. Nothing beats painting from life. Born and raised in Vermont, currently living in Massachusetts.
