About The Artwork

Jack’s work is confrontational and authentic. His textured , if not sometimes tortured acrylic images, are always much more than they first appear. Using animals to replace human experience changes the dynamic of how we perceive and can tolerate being witness to an action. For Jack the annihilation of identity and the process of that experience required all encompassing humiliation. ‘To use figures in such a painting would have been intolerable. I decided to use animals for a series of painting to depict certain emotions that where overwhelming. To hold them as question marks really.’ Jack is one of several of our ‘inner family’, beckynewellart. Living with Dissociative Identity Disorder, as a result of extreme childhood trauma, several personalities live within one body each finding talents of their own. Jack, Fi, Elby and sometimes Tom are creative. Jack’s work is particularly notable for his in-depth self reflection, unflinching honesty and quality of fine art.
