About The Artwork
I love the expression of this statue. I have drawn and painted her several times. This one is a gouache painting which I did directly onto cardboard without previous pencil sketch. I like to see a portrait come alife. Only recently I have learned that this is the statue of Meritaten, Egyptian princess and later queen who has fled Egypt with her husband and then settled in Scotland where she became Scotia, Queen of Scotland.
