About The Artwork
One of the first images I selected to paint when beginning the WW1 series. Coming from a long love affair with paintings of the circus, the cowling on the nose of this Newport WW1 flying craft was subconsciously, I guess, that circus tent striping. I found this image on a film, Flyboys, inspired by true stories of WW1. I owe the images from the series to that film, as I wasn't around to take my own pictures back then!
