About The Artwork
This is the portrait of an old man from a village in Bucovina (Northern part of Romania) in the traditional white blouse. I was inspired by the genuine traditions that still exist in this part of Romania, time seems to almost have been standing still. I admire the simplicity and true feel of the people in the region and hope this portrait reflects that. I use high-quality oil paint on linen canvas. Varnished for protection. Signed on the front. Framed. Note: Unfortunately, this unique painting has been stolen from my studio together with many other of my completed artworks during Spring 2015 and I was never able to recover them. I am a realist painter working mainly in oil and charcoal drawings. I always had a passion for art - always had a drawing or a painting in progress. It wasn't clear to me then that art was what I should be doing for a living until later, after many years spent in academic research as an environmental economist. After studying three years of figure drawing and painting at the Florence Academy of Art I have finally decided to dedicate myself entirely to art. I was born in Transylvania, Romania, and currently live in Gothenburg, Sweden. I am working and teaching classical drawing and painting techniques in my own atelier. I am fortunate enough to have many of my paintings in private and public collections in countries all over the world.
