About The Artwork

‘Paintings of a Death Foretold’  is about police violence in the slums of Rio de Janeiro. The title refers to the book by Gabriel García Márquez "Chronicle of a Death Foretold ". In the book all the inhabitants of the city are aware that a murder will happen, but they do nothing to prevent it. And this constitutes an accurate metaphor for what happens in the everyday life of the slums of Rio de Janeiro.
