About The Artwork

This piece was inspired by a photo taken during a family vacation that ended in a huge blowout between two family members. Standing on the edge of this pier was one of the few vivid memories I have from the trip that doesn't involve screaming and shouting. Staring out at bodies of water tends to cause me to disassociate; I feel my mind separate from my body, drifting between being physically and emotionally present. Thinking about that trip causes similar feelings. While this piece stirs a variety of emotions within me, I hope that the viewer can find joy in the scenery of standing at the edge of a pier that leads to the clear, aquamarine waters of the Caribbean.
