About The Artwork
Ladakh is a region located in the northernmost part of the Indian union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The people of Ladakh are known as Ladakhis or Ladakhi people. Ladakhis are a diverse group of people with a rich cultural heritage. They are primarily divided into two main ethnic groups: the Tibetans and the Dards. The Tibetans are descendants of the ancient Tibetan Empire and practice Tibetan Buddhism, while the Dards are Indo-Aryans and practice Islam or Bon religion. Ladakhi people are known for their unique culture and traditions, which have been influenced by their harsh and remote environment. They are also known for their hospitality, kindness, and simple way of life. Ladakhi people rely heavily on agriculture and animal husbandry for their livelihoods, and traditional practices such as yak and sheep herding are still prevalent in the region.
